Tier Factor FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions about Tier Factor!

How does an absence affect my progression towards a level?

Any unexcused absence will result in no stamps/punch for the day of the absence. If a student does not earn a hole punch one day, then to move to the next tier they must start all over at white. For example, to move from gold to platinum a student must get 6 consecutive punches in the card. If a student does not get the hole punch one day, then to move to platinum a student must get 6 more days of consecutive hole punches to advance a tier. If the absence is excused, it doesn't affect the tier level either way.

What happens when I am on gold/platinum and thenI don’t earn my hole punch?

The tier levels are based on consecutive days, which means days in a row. If a student does not earn a hole punch one day, then to move to the next tier they must start all over. For example, to move from gold to platinum a student must get 6 consecutive punches in the card. If a student does not get the hole punch one day, then to move to platinum a student must get 6 more days of consecutive hole punches to advance a tier.

What happens when I am assigned ISS/OSS/ADD?

When a student misses class a stamp will not be earned for any class(es) in which he/she is absent. If a student is assigned All-Day Detention (ADD), In-SchoolSuspension (ISS) or Out of School Suspension (OSS), the student must begin the tier level system from blue level.

What if I am tardy to school?

Unexcused tardies to school will hinder academic progress and affect the tier level. Depending on the time the student arrives will determine the status (see FCS attendance policy). Excused tardies are those that accompany a legal note from a doctor, dentist or court-related. The student will not be penalized for these.

What if I lose my card with stamps?

You will be issued a new card; however, you will not get credit for any stamps/punches received prior to losing your card. You will have to start over to earn your tier levels.

Why are the requirements to earn a stamp different in each class?

Teachers establish criteria and expectations in each of their classrooms. Each teacher discussed and gave a copy of the classroom expectations and guidelines(syllabus) to the student during the first few days of classes. Just as each student is different so are the teachers. One teacher may tolerate certain things where another may not. This is why each student was informed of the guidelines for obtaining a stamp in each given classroom.

What do I have to do to earn (and stay) on platinum or platinum plus?

Once a student moves to gold, a student must get 4/4 stamps and hole punch to move to platinum and maintain platinum/platinum plus. Failure to get 4/4 moves student back to gold to start again. This would eliminate students deciding that they could not put forth the effort in a block (like sleep, don't participate, etc) and still get platinum with its privileges.

How do dress code violations affect my tier levelstamps?

Failure to follow the dress code is documented by all adults in the building. The documentation is turned into the office weekly. When a student has three (3) dress code violations a discipline referral will be issued and the student will be assigned to attend detention after school for 1 hour. Repeated dress code violations will be addressed as a defiance of authority and could result in suspension.

If I am failing a class will it affect my tier level?

Yes, if you are failing a class it means you are not fulfilling the requirements of that specific class.  If you are not meeting the requirements of that class, it will affect whether the teachers gives the student a stamp for that specific block.
