The Floyd County Transitional Academy (FCTA) is an educational environment for students whose behavior precludes continued attendance in their base school.  The instructional program is based upon Georgia Performance Standards and behavior is carefully monitored.  An emphasis is placed on behavioral change and academic progress.

The FCTA serves as the Floyd County School System's punitive alternative education program.  Two types of students are placed at FCTA.  One, they have been suspended from their base school for a violation of school policy.  Second, students are placed following a short or long-term placement in a juvenile detention facility for a criminal offense that may or may not have been school related. Students are assigned for a minimum of one semester.
